Wild Country Gardens is a truely beautiful and gorgeous farm. I was welcomed warmly from the very beginning and fell in love quickly with the three dogs Izzy, Maddy and Miley. Also Journey, the cat, the secret queen of the farm, is an absolute sweetheart. I helped with various different chores, such as garden chores, picking fruits, making jam and syrup and of course at the farmers market. I really enjoyed that even though it is always lots to prepare and can get a little rushed. My special learning was the process of freeze drying. I didn't know anything about it before and it was super interesting! Thank you, Paulette and Rennie, for everything you taught me and thank you for your hospitality, the wonderful meals, your care and the time together. I will not forget you and your place. Still missing the dogs and Kitty. ♥️

I spent two and a half wonderful weeks at Amber’s farm on Quadra Island, a true little paradise off Vancouver Island. Between beautiful hiking trails, stunning lakes and beaches, and amazing wildlife, it was an unforgettable experience. Amber, Scott, Lily, and Holly made me feel at home from day one. A special thanks also to the cows, all the farm animals, and their incredible garden, full of delicious fruits and vegetables. Thank you so much for this amazing experience. I highly recommend it to everyone!

Dee and Peter are perfect hosts; thoughtful, interesting and good humoured. The animals are lovely, the accommodations are private and comfortable, and time spent here is fulfilling. I’d highly recommend to other wwoofers

Natalie and Louis are both fantastic, passionate, kind-hearted, funny, down-to-earth people — and their kids are awesome. If you want to learn and laugh a lot on a beautiful island, go to their farmstead. Do it. Just leave room for me to come back another summer! I had such a wonderful and well-rounded experience, I can’t believe it was only a few days. I harvested lavender with a scythe and helped sell it at the weekly farmers’ market (folks go nuts for their lemonade, with good reason), learned about goat nutrition and how to milk them (Natalie is an excellent and passionate teacher and so knowledgeable), ate some really good food (Louis is an excellent chef), saw some of the creativity and hard work that it takes to run a small business (the two of them are both completely open books), learned about island politics and culture (they really love this place and it shows), and the list goes on. I was their first-ever WWOOFer, so there were some kinks they were well aware needed to be worked out, mainly re: structure and organization of the workday. They’re a busy family with a lot to juggle. But Natalie (who I mainly worked with) was open to feedback, and the fact that they’re so great made the lack of structure just fine — ha! The camper was super comfy. The outdoor shower was a treat. The stars over the lavender field were breathtaking. The goats and dogs (and hosts) stole my heart. I feel so lucky to have had this experience. Thank you, Natalie and Louis. See you soon!

We just finished WWOOFing at Hidden Pond Permaculture Farm and really loved it. We worked a few hours a day and still had time to explore the island with Stephen. We helped with all kinds of tasks—gardening, planting, building a gate, harvesting garlic, cleaning the sheep barn, making fertilizer, and more. Stephen is super positive and hardworking, starting early and going all day. We learned a lot just by working with him—he’s a great teacher. We even joined his workout class, which was fun. Beyond the farm work, we made a wonderful human connection with Stephen. Spending time together, sharing stories, and getting to know him personally made the experience especially meaningful. We stayed in a cozy camper where we could cook, which made things easy. Also, hanging out with his son Cedar was a highlight—he’s hilarious. We left with new skills, great memories, and new friends. Definitely recommend it—we’d come back for sure!!

Nora & Gordon were incredible hosts! We learned tangible skills (e.g., shearing, growing hay for animals) and they gave us a new perspective on what it means to be Albertan. Nora's education and adventures made her a useful guide for navigating northern Canada and Gordon kept us well-fed with his world class lunches! We'll miss all the animals but especially Vesper (the sweetest goat) and the dogs, Magnus & Sally. We truly enjoyed our stay & we recommend Smiling House to any WWOOFers who are looking to learn about the subsistence lifestyle.

I had a wonderful stay at the flower farm. I was given an extremely warm welcome. At first, some friends were there working too, and we were like one big family. We cooked together in the evenings and, when the weather was fine, enjoyed a barbecue with a view of the mountains. “A real taste of Canada.” The farm is beautifully situated in a small, quiet village. I was able to help with almost every stage of the work, from preparing the beds and sowing seeds to cutting the flowers. Gabrielle is a very attentive host; we laughed a lot and also had some very touching conversations. On a trip to run some errands, she chose a particularly long route back so she could show me the beauty of Charlevoix. I can highly recommend wwoofing at Gabrielles farm.

It is worthy to go there. Your needings and interests will be respected. The treatment is familiar. You will have a good time if you're respectful and honest with them. Their is always something to to. But you will have enough free time and space for selfcare. Be kind to these people. And you will not regret it. I'm totally recommending this place and thes people.

I really enjoyed my time on the farm, especially with the other WWOOFers. Craig and Angie are great hosts. Working in the vineyards was very educational and also relaxing in the sense that it allowed me to just unwind. Thanks to the set work hours, everyone knew exactly when to head to the pond they’d built themselves to cool off after work. I made so many wonderful memories. Thank you for that!
