Ryan est Manitobain anglophone, Amélie est Québécoise francophone. Nous nous sommes rencontrés il y a sept ans alors que tout aurait dû nous séparer. Une relation à distance, une pandémie, des deuils et des soucis de santé plus tard, nous sommes plus unis que jamais et déterminés à vivre autrement.
Nous habitons maintenant dans Lanaudière, sur un beau terrain forestier, avec nos quatre alpagas, deux chiennes, deux chats et de tous les animaux de la forêt qui veulent bien nous rendre visite.
Chaque jour commence et se termine avec les soins aux alpagas, mais est ensuite rythmé selon les saisons et la météo. Désherbage du potager, débroussaillage du sentier forestier, construction d'une clôture pour que les alpagas puissent brouter, aménagement de nouveaux espaces pour les pollinisateurs ou hivernisation de la cabane de l'enclos sont quelques-unes des tâches auxquelles vous pourriez participer lors de votre visite chez nous.
Vous aurez votre douillette chambre privée dans le sous-sol de notre maison de bois ronds. Nous partagerons la salle de bain et les autres espaces intérieurs et extérieurs. Nous cuisinerons le repas du soir ensemble et vous aurez à votre disposition les ingrédients pour vous préparer le petit-déjeuner et le lunch de façon autonome. Nous déterminons habituellement notre menu de la semaine le dimanche, permettant ainsi d'ajuster celui-ci en fonction des goûts et restrictions de tout le monde.
Amélie est passionnée de jardinage et n'est jamais aussi heureuse que les deux mains dans la terre. Elle est aussi la reine des projets atypiques et vous invitera probablement à construire un hôtel à insectes ou à aller cueillir des herbes pour faire des tisanes avec elle. Ryan est un mordu de vieilles Volkswagen et son immense garage est son sanctuaire. Il se fera un plaisir de vous apprendre à utiliser les bons outils pour chaque projet, à changer les pneus d'un véhicule, à fumer du jerky de boeuf ou à rouler des sushis.
Lanaudière regorge d'activités, surtout en été. Randonnée, plage, vélo de montagne, pêche, kayak, visite agrotouristiques ne sont que quelques-uns des possibilités dans la région. Il nous fera plaisir de vous orienter selon vos intérêts!
Ryan is an English-speaking Manitoban, Amélie is a French-speaking Quebecer. We met seven years ago when everything should have separated us. A long-distance relationship, a pandemic, bereavements and health concerns later, we are more united than ever and determined to live differently.
We now live in Lanaudière, on beautiful forest land, with our four alpacas, two dogs, two cats and all the forest animals who are willing to visit us.
Each day begins and ends with caring for the alpacas, but is then punctuated according to the seasons and the weather. Weeding the vegetable garden, clearing the forest path, building a fence so the alpacas can graze, creating new spaces for pollinators or winterizing the enclosure cabin are some of the tasks you could take part in during your visit to us.
You will have your cozy private room in the basement of our log house. We will share the bathroom and other indoor and outdoor spaces. We will cook the evening meal together and you will have the ingredients at your disposal to prepare breakfast and lunch independently. We usually determine our menu for the week on Sunday, allowing us to adjust it according to everyone's tastes and restrictions.
Amélie is passionate about gardening and is never happier than with both hands in the soil. She is also the queen of unusual projects and will probably invite you to build an insect hotel or go pick herbs to make herbal teas with her. Ryan is a fan of old Volkswagens and his huge garage is his sanctuary. He will be happy to teach you how to use the right tools for each project, to change vehicle tires, to smoke beef jerky or to roll sushi.
Lanaudière is full of activities, especially in summer. Hiking, beach, mountain biking, fishing, kayaking, agrotourism visits are just some of the possibilities in the region. We will be happy to guide you according to your interests!
