We are a Christian couple who live on a 40 acre forested property on an island which is boat access only. Our log cabin house is on the waterfront with ideal views of the other islands and mountains. There is quite a lot of wildlife that passes us on the water be it whales, ducks, seagulls, bald eagles and the passing traffic of boats and kayakers. The woods are ideal for bird watching and hiking.
The land is mostly undeveloped and we would like to develop parts of it. This includes starting new gardens (vegetable and flowers), making pathways, clearing areas for development, milling, building, carpentry, painting and general upkeep and maintenance of the existing cabin and surrounding buildings and vehicles. We are completely off grid and can teach WWOOFers about solar and battery systems, research into developing hydro-electric system for winter and providing water from our wells. As we are relatively new to this kind of living, we can learn together and have fun trying new things such as fishing, prawn catching and exploring some of the waterways around us.
Breakfast is around 8:30 during which we will discuss the day’s activities and timings. This often depends on the weather. It could include planting, clearing paths and brush cutting, gathering and stacking firewood, carpentry, milling, maintenance on the buildings, maintenance on vehicles/machinery.
Lunch is around 1:00 and dinner around 6:00.
Mornings start with a breakfast consisting of cereal and some fruit, (toast and eggs) Tea/coffee
Lunch comprises cheese sandwiches and dinner is a cooked meal consisting of a starch (pasta/rice), meat (chicken/sausages, pork) and vegetables. WWOOFers can make their own breakfast and lunch (tea and coffee) and dinner will be eaten together.
Accommodation is a bedroom and lounge area in the basement of the house with a private bathroom.
Wifi is available.
