We are a small goat farm in Northern British Columba Canada
British Columbia
Hello WWOOFer's my parents (Terri 68 and Darryl 68 and myself (Lindsey 42) run a small 36 acre, 30 Doe goat farm and Dog Boarding Kennel about 11 miles north of Fort Nelson BC Canada. We have both dairy goats (Nubian and LaManacha) and meat goats (Boer Kiko cross) on the farm as well as 14 horses, 4 ducks, 2 geese, 20-30 chickens, 6 rabbits and even a pair of Peafowl. We also have 9 dogs and 3 barn cats that ALL love to scratch and played with daily We also plant a vegetable garden and have a few fruit trees which we can the fruit vegetables from each fall. Day to day we spend a lot of time outside whether is is sunny and warm or cold and blowing snow. In late spring summer early fall months Mid May to Mid September Fort Nelson get a huge amount of daylight hours and a lot of the time in July and August it doesn't get dark in Fort Nelson all so we have huge growing season for our gardens, so we able to grow huge variety of plants through out the summer. In the winter months we also get a lot of sunny days so it helps on those very cold days, and in the winter we will often have Norther Lights that is dance amazingly across the night skies. We are very lucky to live in a area in Northern Canada that is VERY Diverse and so very Beautiful and breathtaking. Thank you for taking the time to read though out host profile and we hope to hear from and even better get to meet as many amazing people as we can !!
On typical day on the farm we get up and have tea or coffee and then go out and check all the animals and feed the ones who need morning feeding. Than we come back in the house for Breakfast and make a plan for the day on what we are hoping to get done, which may or may not also get done but if it doesn't that OK!
Fencing is always something we are working on as animals always seem to brake something. We aren't a huge farm so we tend to just roll with the flow a lot of the time and just see how the day plays out.
We have 3000 square foot log house with 4 bedrooms so you will be able to stay right in the house with us. You will have your own room and have access to the whole house. Be able to use the bathroom and shower on the main floor.
All our meals each day are homemade and a lot of the time made from products we have grown or raised on the farm. There is almost always some kind of free backed goodies and fresh fruit and vegetables around to snack on as well
We try to go horseback riding 3-4 times pre week or at lest play with horses as much as we can. If weather is nice have fire in the evenings and relax and enjoy a little down time after a busy day. On the weekends there is fishing at one of the many creeks or rivers, where we will pack a picnic lunch and load a couple of the dogs up and make a fun day of it. On Sunday we try to always have Sunday dinner with family and friends, sometimes there is 30 people and sometimes there is 6.
We are a short drive from the rocky mountains where you will get to see Wild Bison, Moose, Elk White tail and Mule Deer and Caribou, Stone Sheep. We are also fortunate to be a short drive from the Laird Hot Springs which happens to be one of the few natural Hot Springs still around. A afternoon or weekend drive north never disappoints between the amazing scenery and the wildlife. With many hiking trails for all levels of hikers and few beautiful lakes for camping.
In the town we have an amazing Rec Centre that has 2 wonderful pools, 2 skating arenas, rock climbing wall, pickle ball court, and a curl rink. We also have small Movie Theatre that runs a movie every weekend's Friday to Monday as well as many live performances throughout the year. All year round we are very luck to have a Farmers Market that runs ever Saturday and it has tables from locate farms in the area. We have a huge community trails for walk, running and dog walking. Along with many quadding and skidooing trails.

We had a wonderful 3 week-stay at Lindseys farm. Lindsey, Derryl & Terri were incredibly welcoming and kind to us. We felt right at home really quickly. All of the animals on the farm are super cute, very friendly and curious and I have made quiet a few four-legged friends during our stay.
Terri is a great cook and a super fun person to be around. She always has a fun story to tell. Derryl is always around the house working on the many projects that there are. He is very able and always happy to share his skills&knowledge. Lindsey is also a very hard-working person and very fun to be around. She knows her animals better than anyone and we learned a lot from her. She really tried to make our stay as entertaining as possible and took us on many trips. We really deeply appreciate the time spent with the family and everything they have done for us.
The work varied a lot and there is always someone around the house so you are never really alone. I really recommend this farm to everyone who is curious. It is definetly worth the trip up north!
