Hello WWOOFers, my name is Cindy and I live here with my 6 pets: 2 dogs - Charlie and Buddy and 4 cats - Oscar, Spyder, Gracie and Angel. I live in Neebing, Ontario, Canada, 10 minutes north of the Minnesota border and 45 kilometers south of the closest city Thunder Bay. I respectfully acknowledge this Sacred Land known to me as Niibing (it is summer) on the western shores of Gichigaming (the great lake), the traditional homelands of the Anishinaabeg. It is between Animikii-Wiikwedong (Thunder Bay), the traditional homelands of Fort William First Nation, and Gichi Onigaming (Portage) the traditional homelands of Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.
I am growing and harvesting traditional plant medicines such as sage, sweetgrass, tobacco and cedar to share with the community together with Anishinaabe practices. I am in relationship with this land that loves me, protects me, sustains me, entertains me, teaches me and so much more.
There are 13 new cabins in development and a common area for your convenience. Common Area Amenities: Drinking water provided; Fridge and freezer to store your food; Electric stove top – please do not leave unattended; 3 sets of tables and chairs to gather; Garbage and recyclables to be deposited in appropriate bins; Give Away Bin – you may find something you would like; or you may have something to offer in return; and, Kettle, Keurig, tea and coffee. Also included: Firepit with firewood include; Six picnic tables available; Porta Potty with sink and flush toilet available for your washroom needs; Portable Shower available otherwise Lake Superior is a short walk further down the road (approximately 20 minutes); There are 13+ tent sites; and, the 13 cabins. The number 13 is significant as I am sharing the teachings of the 13 lunar moons also known as the 13 grandmothers.
My personal space and time are very important to me. I expect that space to be respected and I will respect yours. I enjoy doing 1,000 piece puzzles, painting, writing, drumming and singing. There are many outdoor activities such as hiking, swimming, visiting the Fairy Kingdom, playing catch with the dogs, and being entertained by the local wildlife.
