My name is MJ .I am the manager of Twin Islands, BC. Our location is boat access and remote. A boat ride from Cortes Bay or from Lund. We are hoping to encourage organic subsistence farming including Native species along with fruits and vegetables. We have a gentle medium size 6 yr old dog (Buddy) and a 2 year old destroyer (cat) (Dumpling).
Activities could include: garden reclamation, planting, harvesting, maintaining, weeding and planning and maybe some rebuilding of existing beds (rock/wood) Some gardens are going to be restored to their 1940 original, where possible.
An average day should start at 9am with a walk/ride/drive to one of 3 or 4 work sites, an idea exchange and discussion of daily site specific priorities then a few hours of "playing in the dirt". Later in the season harvesting and processing become a priority.
Although "foraging" sounds fun..we usually do your own ( food provided) for breakfast. A big lunch. And a communally agreed upon dinner. Specific diets could be dealt with if we are given enough notice and education.
We have a "crew" cabin with its own kitchen, bathroom, wood stove and 2 bedrooms that will sleep 3/4 people. ( with an extra loft space if needed).
My hobbies are fluid..at the moment they are acrylic painting, sewing, reading, baking, hiking, GARDENING, swimming. Sorry no unicorns!
