Passionate about organic for 20 years, passionate about heatlh and wellness for 25 years ; the two fit together. Have never put manure in the greenhouse, amend the soil in different ways. A plant that struggles rather than being forced to grow provides different flavors, a different nutrient mix. There are presently no animals on the farm. With exception of the chainsaw, all equipment runs on alternative fuels. Off-grid solar, root cellar, sawmill, large garden, etc ; it’s been a journey not yet at it’s destination. Most things are built from a pile of ‘stuff’ acquired second (or third or fourth hand), with emphasis on sustainability and recycling. The farm motto : every dollar you spend is a vote for the world you want (and your children) to live in. If this level of craziness appeals to you, come on down. I am a young fit 50+ male currently on my own. Currently planting seeds and soon plants started in the greenhouse to the garden ; asparagus and rhubarb are up and ready to harvest. Always try to make use of all plant parts, carrot tops, corn silk, etc. Someone with pickling/canning experience would be beneficial but could just google it, why spoil the fun with knowing what you’re doing. Have a 5th wheel trailer and truck box camper for housing ; farm is not a 4 season facility but considering building a more permanent cold-hardy structure. A day would consist of whatever needs attention (generally something different to harvest/weed/water or build/repair every day) and prepping/eating meals. There is a 2nd solar pivot array and larger greenhouse to build, and a new sawmill to supply necessary wood, Nestled in the foothills of the rocky mountains, there is a river nearby, lakes and mountains beyond, wildlife, waterfalls, etc. Have multiple kayaks and some snorkel gear, but the most common activity is hiking. All meals are 99.9% organic, is there any other way? Always found it peculiar when going to an organic farm and seeing bought non-organic items on the table to save a few dollars. If we all supported each other 100%, it would create a built-in customer base and the economics would balance. Been eating full organic for 20 years. Meals are predominantly vegetarian/vegan at present.
