Family farm that is a small operation that is growing and direct markets to consumers.
Alberta
1. Describe your project, your place, and its inhabitants (including animals): we are family of four with young daughters that are 9 and 12.We raise turkeys, broilers, layers and pigs. As well as a small cow/calf operation and grassers. As well we have a few jersey milk cows.
2. List the activities that WWOOFers will participate in and what you want to teach them: The WWOOFers will be asked to help with feeding all the animals, moving animals for rotational grazing, helping with general yard maintenance, milking jersey cows and assisting in a small year round greenhouse. We would like to teach the WWOOFer’s about rotational grazing, animal husbandry, a taste of homesteading and life on the prairie.
3. How will you feed and house WWOOFers? Please describe your accommodations and plan for meals:
The WWOOFer’s will stay with in the house with our family or the option to stay in a newer holiday trailer. Meals will be with the family.
4. What could a WWOOFer's day look like at your site (time slot for participation in activities, expectations...)?
Chores will start at 7am and will include feeding animals and milking. Chores for animals can range 1-2 hours in the morning and 1-2 hours in the evening. Tasks during the day will vary but can include checking fences, moving animals in pasture, helping in greenhouse/garden and yard maintenance.
5. Play the guide! Talk about your own hobbies (music, cooking, etc.) and those possible around (hiking, swimming, etc.): Our hobbies include spending time with family and friends, occasionally sneaking away to go camping, coaching hockey, reading, gardening, attending small town fairs and more.
In the local area there are tons of historic churches; the Ukrainian Village historical site is not far, Elk Island National Park is 20 minutes away , numerous worlds largest tourist attractions are within an hour or less from the farm and Edmonton is an hour away.

April 2026
I spent one month (April) with Kim and her family.
I had a wonderful time on the farm. I was welcomed into the family very warmly right away, so I felt comfortable the whole time.
The daily chores included feeding the cows, pigs, sheep, chickens, dogs, and cats, collecting eggs, and depending on the time of your stay, also milking. Since I come from a horse background, I had no experience with cows before coming to Kim’s, but that was not a problem at all. Kim explained everything calmly and showed me how to milk a cow using a machine.
Because I was here in April, I was able to see several calf births and everything that comes with it, which was truly unique. Otherwise, there were always different tasks to do around the farm. There is always something to do in Kim’s large greenhouse, and even though I had little experience with this kind of work before, I discovered how much I enjoy it. Other tasks included bedding the cow paddocks, refilling feed, and various occasional farm jobs. Most of these were done using a quad, which I really enjoyed.
Outside of farm life, I was included in everyday family activities—whether it was going to ice hockey games, attending family celebrations, or spending time together in front of the TV. I stayed in a room in the basement with my own bathroom, so I could always retreat there whenever I needed some time to myself.
Even though I initially hesitated to visit Kim’s farm because there are no horses, I can highly recommend it! You gain comp...

What a wonderful place! This was my third farm, and I was there in March.
The whole family is incredible, everyone is super nice and friendly, and there’s always something going on with the two kids. You can also have a great time playing with Remmi and cuddling Leo (the two dogs indoors). There are also several other animals available for cuddling =)
Barclay has a really big heart and is a wonderful hockey Coach! Kim is an excellent allrounder and teaches you a lot about the animals and plants. Tasks include feeding the animals, milking the cows, collecting eggs, planting vegetables and flowers, and whatever else is needed depending on the season (working on the fence, taking care of calves, etc.).
It’s an excellent farm, even without horses ;)
You have your own room and bathroom. You’re treated like part of the family and get to go along to hockey games (to drink Booster Juice xD), cheer on the kids, and they generally make a lot of things possible for you. When it comes to food, you can always express your wishes, and they’ll usually get it for you. Also watching some good series together on the couch is always nice.
I felt very comfortable there and will always remember you (and Beverly ^^). You are a wonderful family, and I can recommend this place to everyone!! Big hugs to all of you, i'll miss you! <3

Kim and Barclay are great hosts, they welcomed us very gently, as true family's members. From the beginning they cared about us and everything we needed. They made us very comfortable. We were grateful to have our own bedroom and bathroom in the basement. Kimberley was always able to answer our questions, even if she had a 16 hours workday, thank you so much. We spent more than a month learning about the true life of a Canadian family in a farm, and we loved every moments of it ! We did many different tasks like milking Annie, chores, painting, gardening, fencing and running after cows ! :)
We didn't expect to make new young friends ! The girls were always playful and ready to help or explain. We fell in love with every animals on the farm (except the pigs who tried to eat us :D ). Remi, Leo, Marlin and Henry will always be in our hearts !
We really want to thank the family for all the funny activities we went to and discovered. We left the farm with many beautiful memories such as wrestling, garage selling, chuckwagons, sunday's breakfasts, hockey practices and many others !
We absolutely recommand this wwoofing experience ! If you love animals, jokes, wrestling, fun facts and being busy every day this is a place for you !
Thank you for everything ! We will definitely come back to Leitch Farm ! :)
RowRow and Luna
PS : Kim, Sadie and Caroline are the best cooks ever ! ;)

I stayed with Kim & Fam for best part of a month, and they have been the best hosts you could ask for. Extremely kind & generous people, I felt comfortable straight away.
They run a good sized farm on their property with a couple more pastures nearby. I looked after chicks, chickens, pigs, cows and was taught all sorts about farming life including how to milk. I had my regular morning/evening chores but other jobs varied, I was also able to make use of my building experience creating all kinds of stuff, having the space and access to tools was much appreciated for the projects.
The best thing about these guys is that they’re keen to teach, take you places and show you the local way of life. We had plenty trips into towns, watched the girls hockey practice, met with their friends/family or my favourite being the Bruce Stampede, you’ll come away with some amazing experiences. It’s what this organisation is all about.
The worst thing is that Kim won’t inform you if she’s see’s a midget. But I think with time I’ll be able to forgive her. Just a heads up to future wwoofers.
Can’t forget to mention how much fun I had with the kids and the dogs too, never a dull day with them there!
I stayed in the basement with my own bedroom/bathroom which was perfect. As much as I enjoyed spending time with the family/animals it’s always nice to have your own space to unwind at the end of the day.
All in all can’t recommend these guys enough. Salt of the earth.
Regards,
Sir Fredrick Tushman

I had a great time staying for four weeks with Kim and her family. Next to teaching me a lot of things about cattle, how to milk and planting trees Kim always has an interesting fun fact to share. She and her family are always up for a good joke. It was really nice to be a part of a canadian family for a while. But at the same time I could always have my space and peace if I needed it. The animals and especially the dogs are all well behaved.

I spent 3 weeks on the farm and it was my very first WWOOFing and first stop in Canada – and honestly, I couldn’t have wished for a better beginning. From day one, I felt like part of the family.
The work with the animals was amazing and gave me so much joy. We had lots of laughs too! Even though my English isn’t the best, Kim and Barclay were super patient and always tried to make sure I understood.
I had everything I needed, the food was great every day, and I left with memories I’ll carry for life. :)
Big thanks to Kim and Barclay for your kindness and hospitality – you made me feel so welcome! I absolutely recommend this place to any future WWOOFers.
