Small property beside Okanagan Lake
British Columbia
We are back! We were offline for awhile, but are open again to hosting you! Please get in touch, we have immediate availability!!
We feel quite lucky to have this amazing property within walking distance of Okanagan Lake, in between the quaint small towns of Summerland and Peachland! It's an awesome swimming and boating lake and the summers here can't be beat!
We use the term 'farm' rather lightly. We have a small garden and unfortunately no longer have chickens ;(
My husband is a carpenter and goes away for work and I am a gardener. We are flexible regarding when the hours are to be worked but are asking for 20-25 hrs/week. We work on the property a lot on the weekends so days off for wwoofers are best taken mid-week. Typically, you make your own breakfast and lunch and we have dinner together. Making and cleaning up dinner and kitchen in general is a shared responsibility. Once a week we all choose a cleaning task to share in keeping common areas clean.
You can walk to the lake, the campground beside us, and a fruit stand, but that's about it. Most wwoofers have not had a vehicle, and it's been fine, but there's no public transit right by our house so it can be a bit limiting in freedom if you don't have a car. It's only 8 minutes to Summerland and we go there daily. There is public transit there, or in Peachland, but it doesn't run on weekends or holidays!

Erin and the kids are really warm and welcoming people, although a little messy ;) in a really nice way. They let me be part of their family and life for almost two weeks, and take me to town, to some of the events and the farmers market. Thus, I was able to explore the region without having my own car, as getting out by public transport or foot is no real alternative.
I was mostly working in the garden, weeding, planting, watering or cleaning up. If there was not to much to do, I went out with Erin to help her with landscaping projects at her clients houses.
The Okanagan Lake is quite an eyecatcher, no matter if you are interessted in hiking or wine tastings.
I want to thank you a lot, Erin, Magnolia and Evan for having me and giving me the opportunity to explore this part of the country for a bit!

Lovely family, good food and good dinner conversations. I stayed for two weeks, I had a basic private room downstairs with a powder room access upstairs and a shower two stories up. However, I think the future visitors will have an RV set up for them. The view is fabulous, 180 degree view of the Lake Okanagan. Some of the work was easy such as watering plants and some was very physically demanding, such as digging holes for trees or shrubs in rocky soil. I also loved to have learned to cook on a big restaurant style grill! Overall, a positive experience for my first WWOOF stay!

It was my first WWOOFing experience and I ended up staying with Erin for over 2 months. I would definitely recommend if you're looking for a place in the Okanagan. I worked 25 hours a week; planting, harvesting, mulching, and in my time off I would play with the kids, go to the lake (which is a very short walk from the house), or do one of the many hikes/walks nearby. I really enjoyed staying with a family; cooking and eating meals together, games nights and movie nights. I really felt at home staying here :)

My stay at Erins was amazing! I don't have the words to describe how much I liked the family, the property and my time there (that's why I stayed longer than I originally thought).
Erin (and the whole Family) really Made Sure I felt Welcome and at home. The workload was super fair, the food delicious and the view on the Lake... Amazing. It's a short walk to the pebble beach and we were able to use the Paddle bord. If you have a car you can Go to Summerland or penticton with lots of opportunities to Spend your free time but I was also super happy just spending time with the Family, playing Games or watching a movie.
Thanks Erin and Thomas for everything!
