Yukon Garlic Co
Yukon
Dates we need help are:
September(mid) 2025: Harvesting garlic
May 2026:
Garlic planting. We spring plant due to the very cold winter!
June 2026 construction. We want to build a deck to be able to enjoy the summer!
July 2026 garlic weeding
August, September 2026 harvesting, light construction, firewood cutting
At all times we would love to have someone who is passionate about cooking, baking, etc. and would like to utilize local ingredients to make amazing meals to preserve.
Yukon Garlic Co is located 25 minutes outside of Whitehorse, Yukon; in the hamlet of Mount Lorne. ASK US FOR SPECIFIC DIRECTIONS! GOOGLE MAPS TAKES YOU 600KM AWAY! We are surrounded by beautiful mountains, and stunning scenery with limitless places to explore.
We started our company (Yukon Garlic Co.) where we grow cold climate garlic and process in to value added products. We planted 6000 cloves this year.
Andy has a lot of experience with building, especially passive solar, and timber frame construction and has been growing all kinds of vegetables for the past 40+ years.
Our greenhouse will be full again this year. It is small but we pack a lot in. We are growing tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, peppers and herbs. We would love to show you around and teach you how to grow your own food.
We also love to make things! We have many berries that grow locally and plan to harvest as many as we can and make preserves. Locally we have huckleberries, haskaps and low bush cranberries. We plan to make pesto with the ridiculous amounts of basil and garlic we grow. We also make black garlic, garlic salts and garlic powders. Come and learn how to preserve food and maybe you have something to teach us as well!
Organic methods: Our farm uses absolutely no pesticides or herbicides. We practice regenerative agriculture as well as composting, mulching, and also limit our plastic use.
Certifications: Uncertified organic & regenerative agriculture
Current projects: This year we have some exciting projects we are working on!
- Garlic! Lots of garlic! For our garlic, we need help with planting, weeding, mulching, harvesting and drying. We also plan to extend our growing area this year so will be working on tilling and natural weed control. Learn how to grow garlic in climate zone 0B!
-Preparing new growing beds for next year's garlic crop.
- Building projects we have planned are: outhouses, an indoor sauna a deck and a shed.
- Picking and processing berries
-General farm stuff
Our farm is very small and we are slowly expanding as our energy(and your help!) allows.
We also own The Yukon Refillery, an award winning store in Whitehorse where customers can purchase zero waste and environmentally friendly products.
There is no bus or train service here.
Vancouver is 2400 km driving distance.
Flights are to Whitehorse which is 1/2 hour away from us.
Please check flights before enquiring as it can be expensive.

I spent 4 weeks on the Moose Meadows farm and it was amazing.
Pam and Andy are such wonderful people. They are always friendly and willing to explain things to you in a calm and collected manner.
I did all kinds of work and it never went boring. Andy and Pam have lots of knowledge to share and I learned plenty of new things. The food and accommodation were excellent. The area around the property is beautiful. I enjoyed my time there so much that it was hard for me to leave.
I can recommend this place 100%.

Moose Meadows Farm was my WWOOFing experience, and it was great. The family was very nice, and the meals were great. The country side is beautiful, and with no ticks or snakes, it is safe to enjoy.
Things I did:
- Weeding
- Piling wood
- Harvesting and bundling garlic scapes
I absolutely recommend Moose Meadows Farm.
