We are a newly developing 94 acre farm with a large garden, chickens, ducks, 11 goats and 6 horses. We are in the beginnings of growing our horse boarding business as well as haying our hayfields this year. The hay will be sold to other farmers as well as provide food for our own animals. We board and train horses, raise goats and have fun with our goat babies and horses! We also have a very large organic garden. This year we will be continueing building pastures and fences, fencing off new pastures to help with rotational grazing for the horses and doing some building as well as clean up. I am also needing help organizing my art house so that we can hopefully start doing some art classes in the summer/fall. Come and enjoy our views of the interior of BC, which enjoying a healthy farming lifestyle. Organic methods: We rotate our horses and goats in different pastures and let them graze and forage in the summer...the horses are fenced as well as the goats. All of our food that we feed the animals is natural and organic. We will also be growing hay and potatoes and we do not spray or use pesticides. On occasion we also pick up expired food from groceries to feed the farm animals with to help with reducing food waste in the city. Certifications: Composting, free range grazing, and pasture rotation Current projects: Current projects we are working on are: Preparing the garden for planting in late May and ongoing maintenance of garden, constructing fences, renovating a two room house on the property to become an arts and crafts and pottery studio, foraging for medicine plants, maintaining and cutting new trails through our forests, teaching the mule how to drive a cart, building a round pen, getting the young horses started with groundwork activities, cleaning paddocks, and putting our goats to work. Also we will be haying in the summer months. Internet access available

Our stay at Lorie's and Mike's farm was wonderful! We had a very good time with the family and they welcomed us as we were a part of their family. The workload was not to much, rhey respected the rules from the WWOOFing program. Mike did always cook really good and tasty meals and Lorie did show us everything for the animals. We really appreciated to stay with you! Thank you for everything and hope to see you again! Antonia & Lars

We had two wonderful weeks with Lourie, Mike, and Elli in September. From the very first moment, we felt right at home. It was great working on their farm, especially with the animals. It's wonderful to see happy animals, even more when you know that they have been rescued, which are many of them. We learned a lot about animal keeping and mule training. Every evening, Mike cooked a delicious meal for us. We enjoyed not only the good food but also the interesting conversations during dinner. We were very comfortably accommodated. We really lacked for nothing at all.

I spent three weeks here and felt very comfortable from the start. The animals are awesome and bring so much joy to everyday life. The shared dinners were always delicious and came with great conversations. Even though Lorie unfortunately wasn’t around during most of my stay, she still made sure I felt welcome and supported. She also gave me the opportunity to work with her young horses and even go for a ride. An experience I truly enjoyed and will remember. It was a really good time, and I’m thankful for everything:)

I had an amazing time staying with Lorie and Mike! I stayed in a comfortable private trailer next to the house. I helped to clear weeds in the garden, care for the animals, and haul and rake hay. Lorie and Mike are both really cool, interesting people and are really good at ensuring woofers feel appreciated and included. My highlights were driving the tractor, bonding with the horses and all the incredible food!

I stayed 3 months and a half with Lorie Mike and Ellie and it was the best experience ever ! It was my first time wwoofing and I felt right at home with them. They were really sweet and always concerned about my comfort. I had the possibility to ride horses with Lorie, we went on trails and worked in the arena, I was so so happy to be able to ride again. She asked me to work with young horses and I even went to a show with one of them and got second place! It was so fun. All the animals are just adorable and I'm gonna miss them so much (especially Jack, their dog, who was the sweetest boy). The area is really pretty and they will always be okay with taking you for trips in the city near by if you want to. The work Lorie asked me to do was always okay and if I was tired or something she was always understanding. Most of the time we ate all together in the evening and it was always a fun moment. Mike's cooking is just delicious and he'll cook only what you love ! I'm really grateful for everything they've done for me and I hope I can come back to see them one day :)

I had a good week with Lorie, Mike and Ellie. They are very friendly and made sure I had everything I needed. During their time at work, I mostly worked alone, caring for the animals and mucking out. Especially the goats loved getting attention and cuddles and also the dogs made sure I didn't forget to pet them ;) Due to my short stay, there wasn't much time for other activities, but they asked me what I wanted to learn, appreciated my help and we always shared interesting conversations in the evenings.
