Knowledge and skills some of our staff have to share
Your host has over 40 years experience in the silviculture industry, owning and operating a successful tree planting company as well at Ness Core Ventures. I am very knowledgeable of the history of the land and passionate about the forest and the Ness Creek site operations. My work ethics, life history, guidance and knowledge is second to none.
My Manager has been a carpenter for most of his life and is a master craftsman builder. He owns and operates his own sawmill and is site project manager for all capital builds and renovations. He is also the site Permaculture Manager. Through knowledge passed down from generations, life experience and general curiosity, he has a longstanding passion for gardening and permaculture techniques. He is also an avid wild mushroom harvester.
In addition to sharing our knowledge and skills, we are very open to new and/or enhanced ideas and suggestions from Wwoofers for any projects that might meet our needs whether it is in the Permaculture Forest garden, row gardens or anything pertaining to the general site. We love new ideas and input.
Accommodations:
We will be designating a private canvas cottage for wwoofers with full access to modern shower-house and all necessary facilities.

I truly enjoyed every single moment of my stay here. It is a beautiful, unique and peaceful place with so many wonderful things to explore. The work was absolutely fine and always felt fair.
The real highlight, however, were the people I had the pleasure of meeting — amazing personalities with whom it was easy to talk, laugh and simply enjoy the time together.
I can absolutely recommend this place to anyone visiting Saskatchewan. Thank you so much for this unforgettable experience!

My woofing in Ness Creek was super, the place is wonderful and incredible, I falled to love the creek . All persons that I meet in Ness Creek were adorable and kind with me. I spent very good times with their.
I did different tasks during my woofing . I worked in the garden , built a fence for chickens and ducks with Jason ( thank you so much) , make firewood and looked after the chickens and ducks ( give food ,water, pick the eggs and I had lucky because I could see new chick )
I ate very good , Rhonda, Kerry and Gordon are very good cookers. I loved to eat the fresh eggs every morning .
If you like to hike, this place is for you because there is 30 km of trail !!! There is the moonlight lake and Ness lake nearby and I could see a bison near the ness lake
I thank Gordon and the wonderful team for their generosity and the good times spent together.

September 2024
I spent summer 2024 at the Ness Creek Site. This place quickly felt like home and I couldn't have chosen a better place to spend my summer. The site is beautiful and there's so much to explore.
I spent most of my days working in the garden and chicken run. Jason (the garden manager) had full confidence in me from the beginning and let me run free with garden chores and special projects. I learned so much about permaculture and have implemented its principles in my life. I enjoyed cooking and baking with ingredients from the garden (I think the staff enjoyed that too).
The staff here are wonderful and I was fortunate to get to know them well. I felt cared for and Gord made a point of making sure I was having fun at all times.
The chickens... this place has the BEST chickens (and ducks). They are unique and are treated well. I appreciated that. Ness Creek really solidified my love of chickens and helped me discover my love of ducks!
I stayed in a couple of different cabins and trailers during my stay, all of which were comfortable.
I enjoyed being there for the festival season, and I especially enjoyed the bluegrass festival. I look forward to visiting again in the summer for another festival or perhaps in the winter to take advantage of the ski trails.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you Ness Creek staff for welcoming me with open arms.
Miss everyone and think of you lots, especially Kyle, Parker, Mark, Marilyn, Cupcake, and Sparkles.

November 2023
I stayed at Ness Creek for a month of late fall and early winter, and had a wonderful time!
My days were spent gathering firewood and preparing the ski trails for winter. I also looked after the chickens, who are a well-treated, diverse, and quirky bunch -- many of them with names! If you are not interested in quading around and cutting firewood and/or are afraid of chickens, there is so much going on at Ness Creek you will certainly find something you enjoy doing. You will also have plenty of freedom to enjoy the boreal forest and the things the site has to offer. It is big, beautiful and mysterious. Despite spending almost all my days exploring the trails on a quad gathering firewood, it was very easy for me to get lost down the many winding trails!
Ness Creek has a large family of staff and associates, all of whom are wonderful. You will have plenty of interesting and well-natured people to share the days with.
Big thanks to all the wonderful folks at Ness Creek!

For anyone who loves gardening, nature and music, this is the perfect place! I received a warm welcome from Gordon and his entire team! I had a lot of fun taking care of the chickens and enjoying the beauty of the site and the nature trails! The gardening projects are endless and allow you to add your color! The whole team was friendly, peaceful and accommodating. The cabin where I stayed was cozy and intimate. I would stay there again! I thank Gordon and the whole team for their generosity and the good times spent together.

Couldn’t have been better!
This was my first WWOOFing experience and I’m not sure it can be topped. The hosts were extremely welcoming, accommodating, and generous. The place they have built here is amazing. I was there in winter, when the property functions as a Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating and outdoor winter destination with cabin rentals. There are special events and festivals held here also. The duties like helping with firewood, cleaning cabins and shovelling snow were never too difficult (but still vigourous enough to keep you warm) and the hosts were very flexible in accommodating if a person has any specific limitations. Enjoying the Saskatchewan boreal forest is also a made a priority by the hosts. I’m so thankful to have met all these terrific people! Thanks again to the following wonderful souls (in alphabetical order so as not to appear biased): Cathy, Glen, Gord, Greg, Jason, Kerri, Pam and Rhonda…and Sketchy and Tyson the cats. And Rubble the neighbour’s dog.
If you are looking to experience the Canadian boreal forest with a great bunch of people, Ness can’t be beat!
