We are looking for someone to help this spring We have many projects right now, cutting firewood, clearing land, preparing gardens for planting this summer and so much more! There is always something to do. We have just moved to a lovely 40 acres in the Bulkley Valley in Northern BC in summer 2022! Our focus is on regenerative agriculture and we are seeking to transform this slightly run down property into something well cared for and flourishing. We have pigs, chickens and a milk cow. We used the animals, especially the pigs to restore the land, by using rotational grazing. We are working on clearing land for gardens. Unfortunately because of the move we had only a small garden this summer but are already looking ahead and planning for next year. Because of our location it is common to see wildlife, there are many bears, moose, deer, and elk in the area. There are many recreation opportunities in the area for days off. Spend time swimming, canoeing or fishing on the private lake on the property, if you want to get away, there are many camping sites close by. There are endless mountain biking opportunities right out the back gate as well as quality groomed trails in the near by towns. Bring your own horse and spend your time exploring the back country on horseback. There are seemingly endless wild berries waiting to be harvested. In the winter you are steps away from cross country skiing and snowshoeing and a short drive from the local downhill ski resort. We are about 20 minutes from the nearest town. Meals and cooking and cleaning are shared. We tend to eat a lot of meat, as it is all home grown or locally hunted. We also love beans and vegetarian dishes, we both come from a vegetarian background. We strive to make or grow as much as our food as we can, and if we can't we will source it as local as possible. We speak Spanish, English, and French. There is no smoking and no drugs allowed on the property nor in the house. We do drink occasionally, but only in moderation. We live a quiet lifestyle and do not enjoy large parties however we do like to have friends over for dinner often (when circumstances permit). We expect at least 5 hours of work per day (somedays its more, some days less, so it balances out), we typically work 6 days a week and take Sundays off. There are many learning opportunities here, from processing/ butchering animals, to tanning hides, to knife making, to wooden spoon carving, to baking sourdough bread, to cheese making, to construction and gardening. Every season requires different jobs. A positive attitude is a must and we appreciate people who show initiative and good work ethic and are willing to fully engage in life here. Organic methods: We use intensive, sustainable agriculture methods with a focus on regenerative practices. Pasture management and permaculture gardening. Certifications: We practice sustainable, regenerative agriculture without the use of chemical or pesticides. At this time we are unable to complete the organic certification Current fall/winter projects: - cutting firewood - clearing land - preparing winter area for pigs - preparing land for a big new garden We do not have wifi in the house. There is cell service on the property so you can use your cell phone.

The best experience of my life so far! They are a wonderful small family. Even though the work could be physical at times, it was never a problem: I learned and discovered so many things, such as logging, working wood, tanning, renovation, working with animals… and probably a lot more! The property is a beautiful and very peaceful place. And beyond the work, we also had a lot of fun, which I truly appreciated. I sincerely thank them for the trust and freedom they gave me — not every woofing experience works like this. The house is constantly evolving, and the living space for woofers is very warm and well equipped. Today, I can say that I’m almost a real Canadian! Anyway, all of this to say that I 100% recommend this little slice of paradise.

My first wwoofing experience at Leos and Lisas place couldn´t have been an any better experience for me. My time there was packed with unique and new experiences and precious encounters. Leo and Lisa are very mindful and considering people. Both are very eger to create an opportunity of mutual benefit and the chance to learn new stuff when your are open for it. There is tons to learn from each other and tons to talk about. I personally respect and admire Leos and Lisas vision for their farm and their dedication towards it. I considered it as an inspiration. They consider you as a family member and a new member in their community right away which is a proof for their big heart and their affectioness towards people and the wwoofing project. For me espacially it was a blessing to play a tiny role in both of their faithful vision for their place. I enjoyed the fellowship and practicing the christian faith with both of them. I will always keep the time and those genuine people in my heart and i hope we stay friends. God bless Leo, Lisa, Anaya and soon their 4rth family member their farm and their friends. I didn´t like the pigs too mouch though :P

I spent 3 months on Leo and Lisa's farm and it was amazing experience. It was my first time wwoofing and I can say that I can absolutely recommend their place. If you don't mind hard physical work and you want to learn something their farm is the spot for you. Leo is an amazing teacher and Lisa's cooking is really good. I really appreciated the way we got introduced into the community... it's not a pure work relationship, but you can make really good friends and have a lot of fun playing board games or whatever with a lot of different people in the community. I truly loved the time I spend there and everything I learned about woodwork, animals, the farm-lifestyle and even myself. I am really thankful for everything I experienced on my time there and I can highly recommend spending some time on their farm. Thank you Leo and Lisa! May god bless you.

If you want to find a place where you can learn by your hands and your heart it is the place to be. Liza and Leo are 2 beautiful persons. Indeed, beyond the manual work they propose with a big knowledge, they are sharing a perspective of wellfare/wellbeing where people can meet, share and learn each other and where the manual work is the tool to understand in a deeper way the meaning of the life and to meet with yourself. In fact, it is not just a basic farm. Surely, they need to finish the installations for the animals and it is a big and not so easy job to do because they just use what nature give them but the divine consciousness is the center of who they are. This is why the light emanates from its people and I am very grateful to the life for this meeting.

I am very lucky to have gotten the opportunity to stay with Leo and Lisa for one (short) month in late winter. I fed the animals, cooked meals, helped Leo renovate the workshop and the basement, did some logging and milling, and generally helped them get ready for their first spring on their new 40-acre property on top of beautiful Hungry Hill. Leo and Lisa are hardworking, sincere, generous, kind, knowledgeable, and serious about their self-sufficiency project. They have connections with many other farmers and tradespeople in the Bulkley Valley, so for someone looking to get involved in community and gain experience doing all sorts of tasks, this would be a good place to stay. They have a lot of experience with WWOOF, both working and hosting, and emphasize communication, boundaries and expectations in a very helpful way. Bear in mind that this is a new homestead/farming operation in the process of getting established! This means that there is a lot of work to be done, and that things can seem a little chaotic at times with many projects all happening at once. Sometimes this felt overwhelming for me, but again and again I was inspired by their faith in the process. Leo and Lisa have big plans for this place, and I believe in their vision and their ability to make it a reality. If you want to be a part of their dream - not just along for the ride but actively helping to move it forwards - then I would definitely recommend you come and visit! Also shout out to Cha!
