Urban intentional community in the Junction neighbourhood. We are now closed for the winter season.
Ontario
The Junction Village Guelph is an urban intentional community which has been gradually created over the past 15 years. This is a diverse community whose members create a safe, loving space for children to grow, for young people to flourish, for families to connect and for older people to be held with reverence and joy. We envision a multigenerational community that nurtures its members to connect with and support each other to transform how we live in the urban environment. We seek to create neighbourhoods that function at a high level and grounded in love, even when we don’t all agree. We care about catalyzing a successful transition to low carbon living where we can live lightly on the earth, eat great nourishing food, try out new ways of co-living, have each other’s backs and be life-long learners. We are a stand for all people to lead lives that are inspired, lit up and full of possibility. We strive to create resilient, joyful, purposeful lives based on the premise that we should leave the world better than we found it. Our days are filled with action, in a space where each person has a voice and each life makes a difference surrounded by amazing conversations, laughter and love. We have started a community land trust to hold all the properties and are in the process of transferring everything into community ownership. At the heart of the Junction Village Guelph is a co-house called The Purple Cow which is across the road from the Ecoview Apartments which have been functioning for 15years. The space is surrounded by beautiful gardens and unique features located close to downtown Guelph. We have created opportunities to explore co-living for long and short term stays in any income bracket. Our family home is directly next door and community members have purchased several other houses within a short walk. There are many gatherings in the summer months with a community shared agriculture (CSA) drop off. These gatherings are an open space for community collisions connection, working group meetings, music, movie screenings and other wonderful things. In the communal space we have backyard chickens, a pizza oven, vegetable gardens, fruit trees, a small co-working area, a yurt for workshops, community sauna, a covered convening space, a bunkie, and lots of spaces to sit and connect or relax in a hammock. We are looking for a catalyst, for someone to pick up the slack. We want to accelerate our impact and to do this we need someone to handle the details, manage the teams and be our right hand person. You are the person for this WWOOF space if: You are organized, easy going, assertive yet flexible and can handle things. You are interested in doing meaningful work You want to strengthen your leadership skills You want to be part of something bigger. You are willing to be challenged. You aren’t afraid of getting your hands dirty and trying new things. You are able to have conversations that will move things along. You have the ability to prioritize and decide what is important You can put ideas into action. You work well as part of a team and you are a leader in mobilizing other people to get things done . You are adaptable and can learn new things. You like variety, you can pivot and you can juggle many things

I spent 10 days at the Junction Village and had a really impactful experience. I was very quickly welcomed into the community and integrated into events and hangouts throughout my stay, and will miss all of the kind and passionate people I got to know. Most of my work was spent working outside on the property, which was my preference, and Mike and MK always made sure I had interesting projects to work on and regularly checked in to make sure things were going well. This is truly a unique space in the heart of a City, the likes of which I have never seen before in Canada. It combines the benefits of natural beauty, event space, gardening, and community in one place, all while being within an existing walkable neighbourhood.

My first Wwoofing experience and it was fabulous!
Everyone I met there was awesome, so genuine and kind.
The work I did really challenged my expertise.
Highly recommend, and I’ll definitely be back.

I had the best time in Junction Village.
I had a warm welcome at her house.
I think that I want to visit again.
