About the farm:
This is a working farm, not a lifestyle ranch. We do physical outdoor work. We are 45-60 mins from Killarney & Brandon MB.
On our farm we raise cattle, hens, and hogs with the most extensive land base being used for cattle grazing. Daily chores include taking care of hens, picking eggs, sometimes checking pigs, doing some work in a large garden, checking cows on occasion.
Our farm is pasture with wooded areas in the beautiful tiger hills of Manitoba. We farm together with our 8 year old son and our neighbour. We run a direct to consumer meat and egg business and also like to source local food from other growers.
Accommodations & Food
Modest shared house (with other Woofers or trainees) in the town of Belmont, 5 miles from the farm; functional kitchen and bathroom. 1930's bungalow, Cozy and clean.
Meat from the farm and local veg grown here or purchased from other farms when in season. Wholesome and simple. Ideally farm guests have some independent living skills including some basic cooking (know your way around a kitchen) and also the ability to wash dishes, do own laundry and have an eye and take initiative to complete basic and fundamental housekeeping like sweeping the floor, wiping surfaces, doing dishes, clean a toilet (in shared housing) etc.
Farm Work:
Wwoofers help with picking eggs, checking livestock, checking cattle water and fence, helping in the garden or around the yard.
