Biodynamic vegetable farm and earth ship
Manitoba
Welcome to a Manitoban prairie landscape with wild gras and poplar bluffs, immersed in endless skies. In the midst of these vast landscape is nestled our complete off the grid earth ship. A passive solar house with special artistic features and fully independent.
We power our small farm with solar energy and collect and filter rain water in large cisterns.
The sun heats our building or the wood stove when it is cloudy. We have a small greenhouse as part of the earth ship where we grow all year round garden greens, herbs and trying some fruits.
Over the last 3 years we have developed a decent size garden for our own needs and market sales. We are expanding our growing area every year.
We have pigs which we are raising healthy and happy and which support our gardening endeavours with digging and manure.
We are applying biodynamic practices on our farm and are enjoying the results in delicious and quality food and a nourished and improved healthy landscape.
We have seasonal events and a large camping area and several tiny houses in process.
You will mostly enjoy the quite wilderness at this location. You can enjoy a small pond in the camping area or drive just 20 min to one of the largest inland lakes, Lake Winnipeg with in the summer bustling events and recreation opportunities.
Not too far away is lake Manitoba with cleaner water and more majestic landscapes.
Overall our area is quiet but you can choose to join summer events nearby and some gatherings on our farm.
At the earthship are living me and my partner Terry and our 2 dogs Morgan and Jasper. In the camping /tiny house area lives our friend Stephanie who works part time in the garden.
I am working mostly in the garden and in my handmade clothing production. Terry is more the builder and manages the equipment around the garden.
There are building activities ongoing at the tiny houses and the regular maintenance, weeding, planting seeding and harvesting in the market garden.
Woofers can join to choose the activities they like to learn more about or are feeling most drawn to.
There is a lot to learn about self sufficient living and off grid living on a daily basis just spending time with us.
also what is necessary to live independently in a cold climate and how are the earth ship features working,,,, what is all needed to live in a tiny house and so on...
We like to get together and cook at the open fire often in the evenings. Over lunch we have sandwiches and garden greens.
We offer and provide woofers to make their own breakfast in their camper or tiny house location.

I had a lovely week at Myriad working on the Earthship. Monika and other community members were very welcoming, and quickly made me feel at home. I had a place to put my tent, and then when the weather turned bad a place in the trailer. Good food and conversations. I recommend a visit to the prairie lands of Manitoba to enjoy a bath in the human-made swimming hole after a hard days work in the sun, to play with the friendly dogs, and to witness the impressive wide-open prairie skies!
