Sundown Ridge Farm is a beautiful 100 acre farm located one hour east of Toronto and ten minutes west of the beautiful historical town of Port Hope. The Farm has 12 horses six of which are owned by us the rest are boarded here. There are 4 livestock dogs, three goats and seven chickens. Thirty acres of the farm are used for crops. I had the pleasure of staying at the farm for 5 weeks and I absolutely loved it.
The horses are all great and I already miss the dogs.
I will never forget the beautiful rides we went on in the snow and the beautiful sunsets.
As for the work, we went out to do chores at 08:00 and 16:00 and the work consisted of mostly filling the heynets and cleaning the stalls. It was pretty much a total of 3/4hours of work daily which isnt much at all
The horses are all very nice, some stubborn, but really nice and the dogs are even nicer
I had hold myself back to not constantly pet them during chores
I was really sad to leave and I would do it all over again if I could.
I highly recommend this farm.
Leanne I hope you have a great future and I am going to miss you
With a lot of love
Marie ☺️

We had the pleasure to stay at Leanne's and Michael's farm for 3 weeks and if it was possible, we immediately would have stayed longer. Both, Micheal and Leanne, are a delight! :)
Leanne always makes sure you feel comfortable and that there are things that you like to eat in the house and as she is a lovely cook, you can always look forward to supper. We'll really miss her open nature and the way she tells stories. She's such a funny, warm and kind person to be around.
If you don't get to love Leanne (which is hard), you will at least love her animals! The horses as well as the dogs are so well behaved and there is no other option than loving them, even if some work will maybe take a little more time as they request their caresses also at the time you're working.
The work you do includes the everyday-chores (feeding the horses and goats, cleaning stalls and paddocks etc) and then just what needs to be done like weeding, painting, wood work etc. You're very free about when you want to do the work (except for the chores), as long as you do it, which is really nice.
In the freetime, you can spend your time wandering around the beautiful property, swimming in the pool, petting the dogs or (my favourite) going for a lovely ride with Leanne. On a day off, she's also very open to drive you to a near city to explore it as well.
All in all, we only had great, positive experiences on Sundown Ridge Farm and can definitely recommend it.
Thanks for everything, we will miss you so much!

I had a great experience on the farm. That was my first experience around horses. Leanne is patient, and she took the time to teach me a lot about horses.
Their home is cozy, and always good food.
Thank you Leanne and Mike for all the good care.

We stayed with Leanne and Mike for almost 3 weeks and enjoyed every second. They made us feel very welcome and taught us a lot.
The horses are amazing and easy to handle, especially for people who haven‘t been around horses a lot. We also had a lot of fun with the dogs, cats and goats.
Leanne is a very good teacher and showed us how to ride and Mike had a lot of interesting stories to tell. We had our own room which was very cozy and we enjoyed having dinner together which was always amazing.
Thank you so much and take care!

I don’t know where to start because I loved everything at this place!
Leanne and Mike are such nice and funny people and they taught me so many things about taking care and loving all their animals.
The work there is more than fair and includes feeding the animals and cleaning the paddocks. And I really enjoyed working there!
I only planned to stay for 1 1/2 months but stayed 2 1/2 because I really loved it!
The dogs are just the best and sweetest animals ever.
Before I came there I wasn’t a cat person, their barn cats definitely changed that.
When we had time we went on a train ride almost every day and their trail horse Target is just the best.
We went grocery shopping together and they provided me with everything I liked eating.
Leanne usually cooks the everyday supper and we eat together.
Mike is a really good photographer and took lovely pictures of me and the animals.
They had lots of funny stories to tell.
The room in the basement is really cozy and you have enough space for all things.
On my day off I explored Toronto and the Niagara Falls twice. They drove me to the train station and everywhere else I wanted to go to.
I would recommend everyone to go there because it’s a lovely place where you are treated like family and I hope I’ll be able to come back one time.
