I would like to sponsor a Wwoofer to garden and experience planting a natural medicine garden.  I am very interested in passing on my traditional knowledge in medicines.  I also have arthiritus and need some help to move stuff around the yard so I need someone with a strong back.I am planting natural medicine and flower gardens around my house.  This project will most likely last for 3 years.  I plan on transplanting wild berry bushes by the lake in my last year.  The Wwoofer will stay in a camper by the lake and will have lots of personal space.  The wwoofer will be invited to participate in meal preparation.  Special recipes are invited.

My time at Louise's family was incredible. I experienced three (way too short) weeks in the charming town of Atlin. Learning more about gardening in the north by helping her in her huge organic garden was just one of the highlights. It would take too long to write about everything I saw and did. It was unbelievable interesting to learn about the difficulties to cultivate a fruitful garden at almost the 60th parallel north. I have never seen a place where family was more important, especially in a small remote town like Atlin. The solidarity is stronger than anywhere I have ever been. Everyone helps eachother in any situation. That was nice to see. All I can say is a huge thank you to you Louise for making me feel like a family member, for telling me stories about the town and last but not least, (the most important and interesting part for me) all the stories about the history of the Taku River First Nations, the history of Atlin and my huge respect for all your efforts with TRFN in the past years. I hope to be back soon Gunalcheesh !

Sometimes in life, the things which are not planned, and just seems to present herself by a magical way, are some of the best experiences... and it was  exactly what’s happened with Louise...I am so grateful my path went this way, to meet  hers. She is living in the beautiful TAKU river reserve in Atlin, which is an amazing place, a lake surrounded by beautiful mountains...what else can you ask for? We had a good time working in the garden, doing some experimentation...Louise is very open minded and open to try new things. She is such a beautiful soul who is very active in her community and work so much to help it. Louise has a beautiful family, her daughter Nicole and her grandchilds, Evelyn and Catherine, the little baby of the family, who is the more adorable and cute baby in the world. I had the chance to meet her brother and sisters and share some beautiful moment with them. Louise made me discover a lot of traditional TLINGIT food as moose nose,  herring eggs, goose, porcupine,... We did some dried meat as well....my first time! ... and so it was for using the chain saw to cut the wood we've been using to smoke the meat. We had the Sunday ritual of going to warm spring picking some medicinal herbs, and having some healing sauna. We also had over there a beautiful ceremony.... we had a great time well balanced between work and having fun. Louise is full of surprises and knows how to go with the flow... I am so grateful we went in this unplanned van trip to Haines Alaska... where we had a wonderful time and a very special and spiritual moment fishing eulachons...and such a beautiful drive as well! It was just unbelievable. Thank you so much for everything Louise. I hope we will see again...Gondar chich

My girlfriend and i had a wonderful time this summer staying/working with Louise and her family. Louise has a beautiful garden and greenhouse next to the lake by 5 mile in Atlin. We stayed there for a couple of weeks and helped with the garden, harvesting, watering and eating fresh veggies everyday. We also ate a bunch of freshly smoked salmon in the traditional Tlingit and Tahltan way. The fish was harvested at Telegraph creek at the traditional camp during our stay. We also went and swam in the warm springs south of 5 mile at warm bay. Atlin is one of the most beautiful and artistic villages in BC that we have seen so far. We also helped out at the festival Atlin Arts and Music festival which was a great time with soo many artists and musicians and friendly people!
