We would like to thank all of the wonderful people that have chosen to come and help us on our farm.  We have been hosting since 2011 and have met some tremendously talented and considerate people.  Hosting and sharing our experience and insights with other curious and hard working folks is definitely one of the best rewards of our farming life. And in the best case scenario, we are still learning from and inspired by our Wwoofers, even after they have moved on! This spring / summer/fall 2026, we need help with building fences around gardens, animal care and planting, seeding, weeding and harvesting our vegetables and fruits. We practice regenerative agriculture and feeding the soil with manure laced mulch is our favourite activity. We have many musical instruments on hand and welcome art and photography projects, We need all of our Wwoofers to help make the family dinner and help with washing dishes and clean up. Breakfast and lunch dishes are meals you make yourself, but we all eat together. We encourage discussion at the dinner table. Bring your curiosity, ask questions and share with us what life is like in your part of the world! If you are fond of lots of conversation this is the farm for you. You are welcome to come to experience how we try to make a living from our farm.  To be honest, commercial farming in this part of the world can be stressful because the growing season is short, so timing is everything.  If you plant too late or don't mulch & weed at the critical stages, your garden crop will be practically worthless.  Similarly, with the animals, you have to make sure their need for cleanliness, shelter, water, food, security and social contact is met everyday, 7 days a week.   If a cow is giving birth, we have to do everything we can to make sure the calf nurses and thrives.  Then of course, we have sell what we produce and raise.  Marketing is another special skill.  We have a "Farm to Table" business.  So we sell our food directly to families.  We also make interesting products from what we grow.  We have a commercial kitchen where we make perogies, ravioli, sausage rolls, bone broth and other goodies. Our farm is located in a quiet part of rural Ontario yet it is just 1.5 hours drive from Ottawa. This part of the Ottawa Valley is close to many excellent wilderness parks such as Algonquin & Bon Echo Parks. There are good opportunities canoeing and swimming in local lakes. Growing food is a really awesome noble challenge.  It is full of hope, hard work, heart break and joy.  Also, if you like cooking and eating well, this is a good place to try Wwoofing.  Ecologically Sustainable food and farm practices are our key goals. We definitely need WwOOFERS from April to June.  That is the busiest time.  But there is still lots to do in Summer and Fall. There are daily chores, food processing & making prepared meals to sell through Farm Markets. As hosts, we love teaching but best ofall for us, is what we can learn from you! We have 20 Scottish Highland Cattle, 20 hens and we grow about 20 different types of vegetables for sale at local farmer's markets. By the way, we are tree lovers and grow trees for habitat restoration projects. Farm life and work is thoughtful, demanding and honest.  We live in an 1860's era log home where we manage 200+ acres of farm and forest.  It is a great place to learn and think about the world.  On Sundays, if the weather is nice we may spend the afternoon hiking in local parks.  We have just renovated an 1860's era log barn to an event hall or studio for art, music, dinner events etc.  We are still developing that part of our farm business, but it would be a great venue for a talented Wwoofer to teach something. A little about me (Marshall), - I am a kind of intellectual scientist/farmer/ creative music artist person and a strong environmentalist.  Kathleen is a nutritionist and lover of mystery novels and film.  Linden is involved in many sports and you are welcome to join us for games. Organic methods: Bio-dynamic techniques to improve soil fertility - you only get this on a mixed farm, where animal manure feeds gardens.  Crop-rotation, mulching, hand weeding, hand picking pests.  Closed herd cow calf cattle production.  We do not buy animals from other farms to re-stock our herd, because bringing in other animals can introduce disease.  We do not castrate bulls or remove horns from cattle.  We do not use growth hormones.  Medicines are only used to treat animals that get severe illness, sick, which is very rare. Certifications: We follow regenerative agriculture / agroecology principles.

I spent two most wonderful months at the Ottawa Valley Farm to Fork. Kathleen and Marshall are incredibly intelligent, kind and trustworthy people who made me feel welcome from the very first moment on. The work was of great variety and opportunity to learn without ever being overwhelming or boring. There were always new people to meet and things to learn, as well as more than enough time to relax and enjoy the surroundings. I will never forget the new perspective on life I experienced here. Couldn't recommend this beautiful place more.

Staying on Kathleen and Marshal’s farm was an unforgettable experience. What began as a short visit turned into a longer stay when other plans fell through and I couldn’t have wished for a better place to land. From the first day, they welcomed me warmly. Life on the farm offered much to discover. I learned how to work in the greenhouse, plant seeds, and move them into the garden. There I often weeded, but also cared for and harvested radishes, spinach, rhubarb and other plants of the time. I learned to drive a tractor and care for goats, chicken and cows. I loved the walkes with their dog. Beyond the work, I discovered something equally important: how to slow down and enjoy the moment. Outside of farm life, there were many adventures. We went swimming, once did late-night shopping in a nearby village and I often borrowed Kathleen’s bike to explore the area. A highlight was borrowing their car and kayaks for a trip to Bon Echo with another WWOOFer and later kayaking with Marshal at Driftwood Provincial Park. I even got to play on his drum set. The cultural exchange was just as meaningful. I learned about Canadian politics, First Nations, and local sports, while also sharing my own culture – from stories about Germany to baking a Black Forest cake. This stay was more than volunteering; it was a time of connection, learning and personal growth. I will carry these memories and lessons with me for the rest of my life. Thank you, Kathleen, Marshal and Linden for everything :)

A farm in the Ottawa Valley- nothing special you might think. Indeed, it is a really great and special place and I’m happy and thankful to had the opportunity to stay here. Marshall and Kathleen are extremely nice, gentle and welcoming people, who, without a doubt, know pretty much everything and taught me a lot. They are giving all, so that you are having an amazing and adventures stay, which I had. For example, I went canoeing with Marshall in the Algonquin Park, joined Kathleen and their son for curling and watched a hockey game of their son. Furthermore, I liked the daily walk in order to feed the goat, Cinder, a sweet german Shepherd and the various tasks and works I did. All in all, it was a unique experience, which I will never forget, and I can simply recommend having a stay at Ottawa Valley Farm to Fork!

We are grateful to have the first wwoofing experience with Kathleen and Marshall. We fed the chicken, dug the potatoes and carrots, picked the apples, had carrots pickled, helped to make apple pie.... The animals on the farm are taken good care of and look very healthy and interesting. We didn't feel the farm work tedious since Kathleen arranged the work well. Besides, we were shown around the area and visited the market in Eganville. We rode bicycles to enjoy the beautiful autumn scenery, and watched Lindon playing hockey game in Cobden. We visited the Agonquin Park at the best season. The meals we shared were also wonderful, We'll never forget the Thanksgiving Day and the communication after supper. This wwoofing experience is very precious in my life. Many thanks to Marshall and Kathleen! We have witnessed your eco-friendly way of life. You have helped people of different cultures know more about Canadian scenery and culture and the new way of farming, not just a concept but action! We definitely recommend the farm to everyone!

If you're in any way interested in regenerative farming, I cannot recommend Ottawa Valley Farm to Fork enough! Marshall and Kathleen have an infinite well of knowledge and are more than happy to answer any noob questions and teach you all about regenerative farming. Since I was there in July, the days started with taking care of the chicken and goats in the morning followed by breakfast and then usually hard work in the veggie "garden" areas from weeding (me and the other wwoofers favourite), planting, overturning or just collecting veggies for the market or our dinner, but once or twice a week we headed to the kitchen to make pierogi for the farmers market in Deep River. Which we joined for every two weeks too. We'd jump in the truck in the morning and help Marshall set up and then were free to explore the town until market shut down. In the afternoons and evenings, Kathleen made sure that we got to experience all that the Ottawa Valley has to offer. From going for a swim with the dogs, kayaking on the lake, going for a hike, to seeing Renfrew and Eganville, the local "big towns" or going to a soccer match of Linden's their lovely son. And since we were staying over Canada day we even went to see the fireworks in Eganville together! I really had an awesome time learning so much, doing honest work on the farm, and enjoying the amazing food straight off the farm. Thank you so much for having me and teaching me all about farming and rural living!
