Family home and garden - urban
Ontario
We are a small equestrian facility with 14 horses and private clients. Our farm is 100 acres with several acres of groomed grounds and flower gardens. Our clients ride their horses and there are clients who come to our farm to practice combined driving. We offer a friendly, happy home and a safe working environment where wwoofers are treated as members of the family. There are many opportunities to speak and learn English and meet other people of all ages. We have unlimited internet connection and can drive you to town to catch a bus to Toronto or just visit the town.
We are a non smoking environment.
We are a retired couple and my wife has a disability requiring assistance in the house with the cooking. We have someone who comes on a regular basis to do the house cleaning and a caregiver to assist my wife.

December 2025
I lived 10 weeks at the farm.
I am from Québec city and i speak french.
I went here for to learn to speak English.
WoW, Cecil and Marianne were patient and talked slowly with me.
I improved a lot with them.
My tasks were : cleanning the stalls, feeding the horses, gardening, making grocerie, cooking etc.
I worked every day and the hours were variables.
With Cecil and Marianne, there is no pression and no stress.
They pay attention to our needs.
Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday i met their friends. There are kind and funny poeple!
Cecil and Marianne are very grateful for what we do for them.
I recommend without hesitation this fabulous farm!
Tanks a lot to Cecil and Marianne!

This was my first time Wwoofing and I picked the most perfect place. From the start Cecil and Maryann made me feel right at home. They are the most kind and caring people. As were all of the people that visit the farm. Mary, Chris, Rhonda, Annalise, Jackie and everybody else I met there just made it so special. We had such great laughs and made such good memories also with the other wwoofers , I gained such confidence around the horses and they were all such patient and great teachers. Had a very comfy clean bedroom and port Perry itself is a stunning place. I can’t wait to come back and will miss everybody so much xx

We spent whole May '25 on Stonehaven Farm and had the best time ever!
Cecil and Mary Anne are very welcoming and make sure that all of the Wwoofer's feel comfortable. Besides them there are many other people coming to the farm to drive or ride their horses and all of them are super friendly. However there are two people that you'll meet more frequently than others: Chris and Jaap (hope we spelled it right)
They help/teach you about the chores and the other work on the farm.
All people there are very patient, funny and instantly make you feel at home.
The barn chores don't take too much time so most of the day you will be woodchipping, planting, bringing in firewood, weeding etc. Cecil would never make anyone work too hard, if you need some time to rest don't be afraid to ask him. Additionally we should mention that Cecil likes you to develop some sort of sense for what he wants to be done. This is because A: he sometimes just forgets to tell you because he's a busy man, or B: he is of very friendly nature and hates to force people to do something. After some days at the farm you'll develop that sense and just look at something and go "oh Cecil would like this to be done"
In the freetime, you can explore the property, ask Cecil for a ride to town or sit with him and Mary Anne to have a nice talk. I was also very honored to ride Gem and learn how to drive!
Thank you for making our first Wwoof experience the best we could imagine, we enjoyed it a lot!
Greetings to everyone♡

Stonehaven Farm is an amazing place! Everyone I met was really helpfull and friendly. A big thank you to all of you! I felt at home rightaway and the accommodation and the food were really great. The main work was around gardening and maintaining the property and was always appreciated. All of the horses were really well behaved, so taking care of them was a pleasure. I was very happy to be able to ride Gem and go on drives in the carriage with her and Cecil. Thank you for everything Cecil and Mary Anne!

A big thank you to Mary-Anne and Cecil for their welcome, their kindness and their patience. After a month spent at Stonehaven Farm, we felt like we were leaving our home. It was a very enriching stay that allowed us to discover the world of horses and to experiment with various very interesting missions: weeding, maintaining the paths, maintaining the stable... We would like to highlight their support in learning our level of English. Stonehaven Farm will allow you to meet great people (thinking of Don, Pam, Chris, Mary, Japp...). All these people accompanied us and made our stay more enjoyable. Everyone was also grateful for the work we did. Mary-Anne and Cecil, thank you again for everything, we hope to see you again.

This was my first time traveling alone to a new continent, so naturally, I was a little nervous. However, choosing Cecil’s and Marie-Anne’s farm was the best decision I could have made. They are both warm and welcoming people, which made me feel at home right away.
I had the chance to meet many wonderful people who were always eager to chat and connect. At the farm, I took on a variety of small tasks, such as weed-eating, trimming bushes, helping to build fences, and, of course, taking care of the horses. The horses were all friendly and curious, which made working with them a pleasure.
I was also fortunate to join Gem and Cecil on their driving trips, and I even got to accompany them to a few smaller events, which was an incredible experience. Overall, I always felt that my work was appreciated, and that sense of appreciation motivated me to give my best.
Beyond working with horses, I gained a lot of valuable experience in many different areas and built meaningful connections along the way.
