Availability immediately -- for beautiful wwoofing in our woodlands. Especially seeking individuals or couples who enjoy cooking -- particularly gluten-free cooking.  We are a Celiac family, therefore, we have a completely 100% gluten-free house. Musical talents a huge plus.  We are currently seeking two individuals who can help us split wood previously stacked for drying.  If you are looking for a remote, quiet setting and enjoy the outdoors, then contact us! Our 100-acre, largely forested property is located in the picturesque community of Merrickville, about one hour from Ottawa. We seek active, conscientious, good-humoured individuals or couples who enjoy good food, good music and good company. We provide private accommodations in our home. We are currently embarking on a long journey to support the growth of a healthy forest, to tranform the largely overgrown apple orchard and raspberry and grape plants, to prepare a future field for sheep, to grow a large vegetable garden, to rebuild old split-rail fences, and generally to transform a long-neglected property into an enjoyable hobby farm. The happiest wwoofers at the Landing are those who are self-motivated, interested in small projects, and comfortable working independently.  The forest is the source of our firewood, and cutting anc collecting the wood is a typical job. The garden requires attention in preparation for the Spring.  We have pathways through the forests that could be cleared.  And our fencelines are in need or repair.   Unless you have your own transportation, you should be prepared to ride a bike for 2 kilometers in order to get in and out of the village. We very much welcome international visitors. In addition to English, we speak Japanese, some Italian/Spanish and some French. In our house, we have five bedrooms available for wwoofers, and a photo of one of them is shown in our profile. Other rooms are similar, some having queen-size beds instead of two singles.

We had a wonderful time at their farm. Diana and Gus are both very loving, caring people and we immediately felt like we‘ve been at home. They included us in their day to day life and Diana even went to Ottawa with us, which was very cool! They always cared about us and made sure we have everything we need and feel okay. We felt very respected too at work, as we could plan our own working schedule. It was very nice to work independently, but also with Diana and Gus together:) The work was different: sometimes we had to stack up wood, drive the tractor, cooked a meal or just spend time with their adorable dog Maple. All in all we definetly recommend this place and would come back!

My first 3-week WWOOF experience was an amazing memory for me! The Mackay family welcomed me like family, which made my stay very comfortable. They also introduced me to friends in Merrickville and took me to Ottawa. I have so many memories that I can’t even write them all here. The work included gardening, farm work, cleaning the driveway, and preparing firewood for winter. I also enjoyed spending time with their lovely dog, Maple! Since I love cooking, I often cooked dinner as well. I will definitely come back again!

We spend three unforgettable weeks with Diana and Gus. From the first day to the last they have been most generous and kind and never failed to make us feel welcome and appreciated. The work times were variable, which we appreciated, and mostly spend cleaning trails, moving firewood for the winter, burning brush outside, or taking care of their wonderful dog Maple. Wether working side by side with them or on our own we were always able to ask any questions. When not working, Diana and Gus are really fun and easy to talk to. This was a real ones in a lifetime experience for us and we would always do it again! Jakob and Jakob

We spent a month at Diana and Angus's place, and we couldn't have dreamed of a better first WWOOFing experience! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed into a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Our tasks were varied: moving an oven and a fridge ( ;) ), cooking meals, chopping wood, shoveling snow around the house, maintaining forest trails, and taking care of their adorable dog, Maple. It was a great immersion into their daily life. Beyond the WWOOFing experience, Diana and Angus were incredibly generous. They took us to visit Merrickville and Ottawa, introduced us to their friends and family, and even helped us with administrative procedures. Their kindness and support truly made our stay unforgettable. Thank you again for everything!

We spend three weeks at the MacKay family and it was absolutely amazing! We have experienced so much and learned many things. We have done so much as gardening, weeding, piling brush, putting fires out and playing endless with the dog, trying to make her tired (never happens). Diana and Gus are very lovely people who raised a great family. Our bedroom with bathroom was very beautiful and we met a lot of nice people in Merrickville. Beside the work we had also so much fun with the kids and touring around with Diana. We miss you and hope to see you soon! Thanks for everything! Siri and Susi from Germany

Our month in The Landing was like a dream. The family is welcoming, we have been include in their everyday life like if we were taking part of their family ! We could experiment a lot of recipe in the big kitchen, they might have all the ingredients who exists on earth, and we could use what we wanted, so it was like a cooking-paradise ! The children's are adorable, they always try to be helpful and to play with you. The dog was the most affectionate animal we never seen ! She was always in our legs, we were used to her presence, we miss her a lot ! Merrickville is a beautiful small village, we could met new friends in the cafe, library, bakery... Everywhere, we where welcomed with smiles and gentle words. The bedroom is beautiful, huge, with bathroom. The family was living in an other part of the house, so we really had our independence. The parents were perfect host : welcoming, taking care of us, giving us useful and interesting informations. Our only advice is : if you want to discover Canadian life through a lovely Canadian family, there is no better place ! We have been really happy during this month !
