Availability immediately -- for beautiful wwoofing in our woodlands.
Especially seeking individuals or couples who enjoy cooking -- particularly gluten-free cooking. We are a Celiac family, therefore, we have a completely 100% gluten-free house. Musical talents a huge plus. We are currently seeking two individuals who can help us split wood previously stacked for drying. If you are looking for a remote, quiet setting and enjoy the outdoors, then contact us!
Our 100-acre, largely forested property is located in the picturesque community of Merrickville, about one hour from Ottawa. We seek active, conscientious, good-humoured individuals or couples who enjoy good food, good music and good company. We provide private accommodations in our home. We are currently embarking on a long journey to support the growth of a healthy forest, to tranform the largely overgrown apple orchard and raspberry and grape plants, to prepare a future field for sheep, to grow a large vegetable garden, to rebuild old split-rail fences, and generally to transform a long-neglected property into an enjoyable hobby farm.
The happiest wwoofers at the Landing are those who are self-motivated, interested in small projects, and comfortable working independently. The forest is the source of our firewood, and cutting anc collecting the wood is a typical job. The garden requires attention in preparation for the Spring. We have pathways through the forests that could be cleared. And our fencelines are in need or repair.
Unless you have your own transportation, you should be prepared to ride a bike for 2 kilometers in order to get in and out of the village. We very much welcome international visitors. In addition to English, we speak Japanese, some Italian/Spanish and some French.
In our house, we have five bedrooms available for wwoofers, and a photo of one of them is shown in our profile. Other rooms are similar, some having queen-size beds instead of two singles.
