We are a community of inspired, clear-minded individuals creating a relational-centred, sustainable lifestyle that we have found naturally catalyzes the evolution of human consciousness. We are enabling the old paradigm to fade away by not fighting against life as it is. Our intention at Chuckleberry is to provide an opportunity for volunteers to have a hands-on experience of service in a community setting. Our off-grid organic farm is located on pristine 23-acre property, 15 minutes West of Nelson, in the West Kootenays, British Columbia. We operate out of an 1800 sq. ft, geo-solar Earthship. We have extensive organic community gardens and orchard featuring 30-inch insulated raised beds with hoop houses. We provide a simple, quality, organic, mostly vegetarian diet, some of which comes from our gardens and greenhouse. There are many things to do in the area such as hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, and skiing. The West Kootenays offer a rich, alternative culture, many amazing musicians and performers, arts and social events. We go into Nelson several times a week and there are rides available off-site. How to get here: • Rideshares - Kootenay, Craigslist, Kijiji, Poparide. • Fly - airport in Castlegar • Bus - Nelson .• We are happy to pick you up at the airport or in Nelson if you don't have a car. Organic methods: Soil generation through composting Certifications: NOOA Cert. #04-327 (North Okanagan Organic Association) Current projects: property maintenance, microgreen production, community resilience Internet access available

that's a wonderfull place, you feel like at home and sometimes better. The guys are very amazing and very nice with a lot of compassion for evryone. It's more than a family because you can talk about everythings with facility and  without complex. They know to listen to you by sharing experience and way to seeing life. it's a rich experience. we stayed three weeks, it was too short but intense. We felt a lot of things about ourself and sometimes more, about the nature around us. We were able to express ourselves as we never really do elsewhere. we got it that we need to listen our body to be enjoy. and the food is really good, You can epress your cooking skills if you like that. We learned how to make the bread for some people and we learned the new recipes to experiment at home. You can play musik, draw, sing, practice yoga, meditation or anything else because there is a practice room with a massive space and very quiet. About the graden's work, it's very interesting. We learned a different ways to work in garden, a good things to do in our garden in France. Sometimes, it's very hard and you need force, that's the reality  of garden work. If you want to eat vegetables, you must learn to dig. But john is a great person and he knows to listen and understand everyone. If you have a request, a pain some where or if you're tired just tell him. so we could write more than that about the comunity but I leave you to discover your own experiences. thank you and take care of you

Our life in, around and with the chuckleberry community was an experience of one kind. You get to know eachother very well and we had the feeling, that the bonds we forged here during our short stay of three weeks were stronger and deeper than some of our yearlong friendships. We had the opportunity to share recipes, organic meal, dances, songs, experiences and lifestyles, stories and (non-alcoholic) drinks with a bunch of lovely people. During the sessions of emotional intelligence we discovered parts of our selfes, we missed for quite some while or didn't know about. The earthship is super comfy and offers always the smell of good food. We jumped in the nearby waterfall even late this year and enjoyed ourselves by meditation. Thanks to all the folks who made our stay as it was: a big playground for our inner childs and for some serious talks whenever needed. Thanks Daniel & Tanja

Life @ Chuckleberry * A place to met lovely people, to be honest and open, to let your heart guide you :) * Emotional intelligence workshops (which are part of your schedule at Chuckleberry) were really really rewarding for us * Maxi, who was always cooking lunch for us, creates amazing vegan food * Jon provides lots of organic food * Work is usually from 8.30-12 and 1-3.30 * There're different kinds of work to do at the farm, i.e. construction, work in the growroom, remove snow etc. * Remote place, bus access to Nelson, not many hiking opportunities around * Wifi in the "internet café", no phones allowed in the community space * Accommodation in trailers/tiny homes. Can be cozy, if you spend some time cleaning * One shared bathroom * Work is very well organized * Perfect place to spend some cold winter weeks -> Work in the grow room means working in +25 degrees :) * beautiful property and community space with separate yoga/meditation room Thanks to Jon and the wonderful people there who made our time at Chuckleberry so special. It was a pleasure to share space, stories and thoughts with you guys. We'll carry your wisdom and inspiration with us, wherever we go. We are super thankful that we had an opportunity to spend some weeks with all of you! Take care, wherever you go next. And Jon, never lose the little child inside of you! It's so great and inspiring to see how you've realized your dreams! :) THANKS Milli

The Chuckleberry community and sprout operation is located in a quiet and beautiful place about 15 minute drive outside of Nelson. During the 7 weeks I was there I found that Jon listened well and paid attention to the community needs. He attracts very interesting and hard working people. The food he provides is 100% organic. If you want to be part of a caring community with opportunities to participat in some of the programs and workshops then this is the place for you.
