Hi my name is Tanya, I live on this farm with a diverse lifestyle, myself and my daughter work together to manage all aspects of the farm. My home is located 10 minutes north east of Bonnyville, near Beaver River. For wwofers without transportation It's best to take a bus from Edmonton to Bonnyville, where we would be happy to pick you up. CAUTION: If you are allergic to hard work and getting your hands dirty then this may not be the opportunity your looking for.Each day we take on many different tasks, depending on what needs attention first. The animals need food and water twice a day. Horses, chicks, dogs, and cats all need care. In the summer we have lots of grass to cut, leaves to rake, gardens to work up and plant, water, and pull weeds. We plant potatoes, carrots, beans, peas, herbs, tomatoes, onions, beets, lettuce and more. July- August is harvest time, veggies need to be picked, washed, and preserved. To do this we pickle or freeze vegetables. Some of the things we love to do during the summer months are, river floating, camping, hiking, canoeing, sitting around the fire after a family barbeque, laughing and telling stories. We love to have fun and enjoy new company. If the season permits we will have the chance to go berry picking. Saskatoon berries, blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries grow wild here. Along with that, another favorite is collecting, drying & storing wild herbs and tea's for winter use. There is nothing nicer than sitting around the fireplace in the winter enjoying a great natural cup of tea. The Northern Lights can be very intense at night, you just never know when they will appear, so bring your cameras, especially in the winter months. winter work includes shoveling snow. lots of snow!! Our past woofers have learned an array of skills from measuring and cutting pieces of wood, painting walls and helping to build new cabins. we encourage all our woofers to participate in our renovations and always try to get everyone involved in the cleaning, cooking, and laundry. If you are looking for a peaceful and fun home in Canada to spend some of your time this may be the adventure you are looking for.
