We spent three great weeks at Kerbi and Zac’s. They were wonderful hosts, openly welcoming us into their family. They made sure we had everything we needed and took us along for family outings and other adventures so we even got to go to a small town bull-a-rama. We also really enjoyed spending time with their two young boys who showed us the lay of the land and gave us expert baseball lessons. The workload was absolutely manageable and you’re gonna get a lot of steps in since most of it is done on foot. They have a friendly herd of cows, a handful of lovely ranch horses and some really cuddly cats and dogs. All in all this ranch is a really beautiful place with great animals and wonderful people and we would definitely recommend wwoofing at Swann Land and Livestock!

It was a really nice experience staying at Patty and Bruce’s 5-acre farm. I arrived at the farm at the beginning of the growing season, so the work was relatively simple. I helped with weeding, preparing the garden beds, and feeding the cows. They had a pregnant Canadian Highland cow and were expecting the calf to arrive. I just missed it — the baby was born right after I departed! Both Bruce and Patty are very sociable, and I had a wonderful time with the whole family. Patty is an excellent cook, and they provided me with delicious meals. The private bedroom where I stayed was very clean. To my pleasant surprise, they also took me to their hometown. It is a small community where people are very closely connected. Although I have been living in Canada for the last 26 years, this was the first time I encountered such a deeply rooted Canadian family and community. I truly enjoyed the warm-hearted interactions there. It felt very rare and valuable in modern society.

What a truly wonderful stay with Laura and Len! They have a sweet little cabin for their wwoofers, which looks out on their and their neighbor’s farm, with picture perfect scenery. Len and Laura are kind and generous people, we had great conversations and laughed a lot. I took care of the chickens, the alpacas, and the horses. We started the garden, weeded, planted flowers, and fertilized a hay field. My most fun experience was fetching 40 young chickens from a breeder. Laura is an amazing cook, and on my last evening, we baked Butterkuchen together. Sadly I missed Haskap berry season, a definite highlight at their farm. Thank you Laura and Len for such a great experience! I hope to wwoof here again.

I had a wonderful time on Haida Gwaii. The accommodation was very comfortable and we ate very well. The workload was very reasonable and I learned a lot (canning, greenhouse management, etc.) Douglas is a very kind, interesting, and patient man. He took the time to show me around the island and introduced me to some very interesting people (the island is full of them!) The experience was absolutely lovely. I highly recommend staying with Douglas at Tamara's Garden.

Robert was our first WWOOF host. He is generous, easy-going and kind. He made our stay an unforgettable one. Our bedroom was comfortable and Robert provided everything we needed to cook vegan. He gave us insight information about Powell River and advice what places we had to see. We were allowed to use the car and bikes, so it was easy to get everywhere. Thank you Robert for this great experience.

Staying at Ben and Zoe's with my partner for two weeks was a true marvel. They are both so kind, generous, inclusive, understanding, and fun! They lead busy lives, and were so happy to include us in all sorts of activities. Our first week we got to help with a march break camp for young teens, and we had a great time - helping with meals, organizing various activities (crafts, dancing, playing outside etc), and setting up the space. We were there during the sugaring season, and were thrilled to learn all about the process of making maple syrup. We spent hours of fun collecting sap, cutting fire wood, and most of all - boiling the sap. We also got great experience learning about sewing seeds - Zoe was always so happy to share her years of accumulated knowledge with us. It was also lambing season during our stay, so we paid lots of visits to the sheep which was really nice - unfortunately we didn't get to see any births, but Zoe sent us pictures of the lamb in the following weeks. The feeling of being at Cordwood is beautifully communal. Meals are shared, and so is the task of preparring said meals. There was a perfect balance of down time, and social time. Their two daughters, Phoebe and Francis, are lovely playful and creative children. This sweet family's lifestyle was so so insipiring for my partner and I. We fully plan on returning at the next chance we get, and continuing to learn about this homesteading lifestyle. Thank you for the unforgettable experience <3

I had a great time at Melissa and Grant's place. They are very nice and welcoming people. You can easily feel home and part of the family there! I learned a lot in the garden and got a chance to do a large variety of activities like preparing soil, seedling, transplanting, weeding, digging, driving the little tractor... and even doing some landscaping! Melissa and her family cooked delicious food, and always with vegetarian dishes for me. I feel grateful for discovering there farm and meeting a part of their (big!) family.

I stayed with Myriam and her family just shy of two weeks. Any time there was something to learn. They would as if I wanted to join in, such as moving the sheeps, bringing in the chickens for the night, or help plant trees, move electric fence. They also introduced me to there friends that had different types of house construction build, ie straw bail, log homes. Which I am so greatful for them, answering all my questions. I enjoyed all the family meals we had together. I learned a lot working with Rony in the garden. Thanks again for opening your door.

I spent a week with Paulette and Renne through WWOOF, and it was my first experience on the platform. It couldn’t have been better. It was something really special and made me even more excited to keep living this kind of exchange. The routine on the farm is quite varied: we made jams, sweets, and juices, and also took care of the plants on a daily basis. The farm is very beautiful and the house is cozy. I felt welcomed from the very first moment, in a light and peaceful environment. The room is very comfortable, which made a big difference during my stay. If you enjoy cooking, this is the right place. I learned about making jams and we also cooked together a few times. I got addicted to one in particular, the sassy pepper jelly. Paulette is a great cook, and her partner is a very good-humored person. He made an excellent hamburger for us. And I can’t forget to mention the animals: they have three adorable and very gentle dogs, and a little cat that makes you want to take it home. It was a really lovely week, with a lot of learning and great memories. I highly recommend it!

We stayed for 3 weeks with Christine at Chinook Farm and had a wonderful, unforgettable experience. Christine is so kind, generous, trusting, knowledgeable and patient and we felt welcomed and included in the community. The routines were well explained and structured. There was a good balance between work, rest and free time to explore. We loved waking up everyday to the view of the mountains and forest and the farm is a peaceful patch of heaven. We were grateful for the chance to take the horses out for rides, learn more about cows and feel more confident being around them. All of the animals are lovely especially the dogs, Billie and Wrangler - they’re always by your side, affectionate and looking for cuddles and belly rubs! We could not have had a better experience, thank you for everything!
