1. Describe your project, your place, and its inhabitants (including animals): Our 10-acre farm is situated right in the heart of Hornby Island near all of the amenities and the best beaches. We currently farm 4 acres of delicious blueberries, a growing patch of Dahlias, a large personal veggie and flower garden, and babydoll sheep (not farmed - they are our lawnmowers). We also provide glamping agro-tourism accommodation to tourists during the summer season. 2. List the activities that WWOOFers will participate in and what you want to teach them: We have been on this farm for 5 years and have learned an incredible amount in the process. We would love to pass on any knowledge we have and also learn together! We would like WWOOFers to get involved in the day-to-day operation of our farm. We constantly have different projects on the go. Sometimes basic fixing/building; lots of planting and weeding, tending to sheep, blackberry removal, lawn mowing, watering plants. Plus the unexpected often arises! 3. How will you feed and house WWOOFers? Please describe your accommodations and plan for meals: We offer a small but sweet vintage camper which has its own kitchenette. It has a large double-sized bed, kitchen table and its own outdoor dining/bbq area. The toilet is shared ( with 1 other) composting toilet and the shower is a great outdoor heated shower. There will be a raised garden bed for your own veggies and vegetarian food supplies will be provided for you to make your own meals. We love to get to know people and will cook meals from time to time to share but daily meals will be made on your own. 4. What could a WWOOFer's day look like at your site (time slot for participation in activities, expectations...)? We would like a WWOOFer to work 9-2, 6 days per week. Jobs will vary depending on the day! Once daily tasks are complete, we are a 5-minute walk to the beach and 10 mins to 'downtown Hornby'. 5. Play the guide! Talk about your own hobbies (music, cooking, etc.) and those possible around (hiking, swimming, etc.): We are a husband and wife team who used to live in central London, UK. Nikki was a florist for events/weddings/photo shoots and Stu is a brand strategist. We are animal lovers and (mostly) vegetarians and take so much pride in growing our own organic food, processing it and also providing food for our community. Nikki is a florist and loves to grow flowers and create arrangements - she is very happy to teach some floristry and flower gardening (along with all the other farm tasks!) Stu is a jack of all trades on the farm and is happy to share his building, fixing, and mechanical knowledge. He is also a keen mountain biker and swimmer.

Comox airport is about an hour and 2 ferries away. There is a bus from the airport to Buckley bay where you can walk on the ferry to Denman island. There is a seasonal bus on the island which will bring you to the Hornby ferry which you can walk on.

Hello everyone, To start off: I originally planned to stay at Little Tribune Farm for a maximum of three weeks to see more of Vancouver Island. However, I fell in love with the place almost immediately and received such a warm welcome that I knew right away I wouldn't be leaving anytime soon. As the longest-staying WWOOFer, I ended up spending eight weeks on Hornby Island, and looking back, it was truly one of the best times of my life. I owe this unforgettable experience primarily to Nikki and Stu. Thank you so much for your incredible hospitality, your warmth, and for always being there for me. After these two months, I felt like a true part of the family. It’s hard to put into words just how much that meant to me. Both the farm and the entire island are absolutely gorgeous. The work was incredibly varied and a lot of fun. There were always exciting projects going on, from building and repairing to gardening. I especially appreciated how much my personal interests were taken into account, my main focus was on carpentry and construction, such as building stairs, gates, and fences. Later on, I also had the chance to help out in the blueberry field. There’s always something to do on a farm, which made it even better that on sunny days, heading to the beach was the main priority. :) The balance between work and relaxation was simply perfect. So for everyone who is looking for a truly special WWOOFing experience, I can whole-heartedly recommend Little Tribune Farm!

We had a great time on Hornby Island at the farm! Our work was very independent and we did a mix of blueberry picking and clearing in the forest. We stayed in the trailer, which is admittedly tight for two people but doable (and the neighbour’s roosters can be quite loud). We did all of our own food with a mix of groceries from Nikki and Stu and a bit of money to buy the rest. Keep in mind that the groceries on the island are expensive compared to Vancouver Island or the mainland. The beaches on the island are beautiful and we had a nice time getting to know Nikki, Stu and the other staff on the farm!

I spent three weeks in May at Little Tribune Farm with Nikki and Stu and had a wonderful time! The farm is just a short walk from Hornby’s beautiful beaches and “downtown” Hornby and the island community is simply amazing. Working with Nikki and Stu was fun and very rewarding; we planted a lot for the summer season, cleared blackberries from the blueberry bushes, mowed, mulched, and started setting up the glamping areas. I got to watch the sheep shearing, which was super interesting! I stayed in a cozy little camper that had everything I needed. Keep in mind that you’ll be preparing most of your own meals and often working independently. Nikki and Stu are very kind, welcoming, and great to chat with. I loved going to a dance party with them or exploring the island on a bike they lent me. I’d love to come back in the near future. I already miss this special island, Nikki & Stu, and their adorable cat Minni Mouse!

My partner and I had a fantastic time on Little Tribune Farm - Nikki and Stu are wonderful and accommodating hosts. We always had enough to do on the farm but were given ample time to explore and enjoy the island. We were staying in their camper which is retro and cosy, there was enough space for two and we had a warm outdoor shower too. We had a couple of lunches with Nikki and Stu and they provided food to cook for ourselves for other meals. The Co-op is a 5 minute walk for provisions. We felt this was a good balance of having our own time but also getting to know them. We arrived in August and the blueberries were in full swing so picking them took up most of our time but Nikki and Stu made sure to vary up our tasks every few days. We also had a couple of days with some wildfire smoke from Vancouver island but there was absolutely no obligation to work. It’s worth noting that the farm is perfectly located for exploring the island. Enjoying the beaches is a must and they’re so close. There are also plenty of walking trails in the parks behind the property. Helliwell Provincial is a short drive. Our advice for future woofers would be: - For couples, the camper is well equipped and cosy but pack light as the storage is a bit more limited - If you can, bring a bike, there’s some awesome mountain bike trails on the island and they don’t have a rental shop currently - Bring some blueberry recipes! Thanks again Nikki and Stu for sharing your lovely farm and home with us!

Unfortunately, I could only stay for a few days, but I wish I could have stayed longer. I had a truly wonderful time at the farm, and Nikki always made sure I had everything I needed and ensured I had enough time to explore the beautiful island. I can truly recommend this farm to everyone.

This (almost) month at Little Tribune Farm was amazing! ! If it would be possible in my schedule, I'd wanted to extend to a second month ;) Nikki and Stu are so great, really fun and generous ! At there farm, each day is unique, you will learn new skills all the time. You will have time every day to explore Hornby Island : the beaches, the little mountain, the shops, ... I lived in a cute little trailor for the month, so cosy, with an outdoor area. We shared delicious meals at lunch, and I was in autonomy for breakfast and dîner, it was a really good balance ! I'm gonna miss the 6 sheep and 3 dogs too ;) I recommand this farm 1000% and I wish I'll manage to come back ! (Tips : Manage your travel to don't come at the beginning of the week. It's a bit away, but Little tribune farm really deserve to go.)
