Our home is right on the ocean, i.e. it ends at our private beach. We are serviced by public transit, with a bus stop at the end of the driveway. We encourage cycling as much as possible. If you have some skills in building trades, that would be helpful as I would like to erect some structures in the garden, and a shed...there is always a project on the go. Your work as WWOOFER will consist mainly in seeding, planting, weeding (lots of it), pruning, harvesting and processing the harvest. There is a project to expand the cultivated area that will mean clearing weeds. There are also a flower beds to look after so we keep birds and pollinators happy. As well you may collect and split wood for the fireplace in winter ...We only have 1 acre, but I would like to utilize its maximum potential. you will have a room. You will eat with us. We rarely eat meat but it can happen, and fish, as we mostly eat vegetarian meals. I bake the bread and everything else. I own a yoga studio (Iyengar yoga) here where I teach several classes every week. I also train with senior teachers on an on-going basis. Louis, my spouse, is sometimes on his boat. We like things to be quiet. I listen to classical music but not much else. When working, I like to hear the wind and the birds.
Organic methods: we are a small operation, non-commercial, aiming to produce, to grow what we eat. As we are located oceanfront, we harvest the seaweeds from our beach and use this as part of manure.: you may be asked to harvest seaweeds). We grow and process food: freezing, canning, jamming, dehydrating, cooking, baking. We learn as we go, improving every year.
